5 years ago today something happened that totally changed my life. This boy I was friends with invited me out for a drink after work... there was flirting involved... and we started dating!!!

Some might say that our early relationship was a little slow to get off the ground. The truth is, if our life was an '80s movie montage this Bonnie Raitt song would be playing in the background!

The song describes it perfectly... Shep knew he had a crush on me but was too nervous to act on it and kept it to himself. We were friends, who sometimes shared lunch or dinner at the office, and we always had fun together. From the beginning, Shep has always had a talent for making me laugh. :) Some of our mutual friends suspected his "admiration", but I remained naive to the fact. Silly me. Eventually I got the memo, and to my surprise realized my feelings for him went beyond friendship too. Soon enough, we were both smitten with one another! When you first start dating someone, it's hard to predict where life will take you. Yet here we are, at a 5 year milestone, and now m-a-r-r-i-e-d. :)

We've had a lot of fun memories over the past 5 years and I am sure there are hundreds more headed our way over the next 50 years. I am so lucky to have married the person who makes me happiest in the world... even if it took me a little while to get the memo. ;)

I'm not really sure what the etiquette is around celebrating date-iversaries once you're married, but I do know that February 8th will always have a special place in my heart. :)
