5 Months of Marriage

Today is our 5 month anniversary. As we all know, Five is between 4 and 6 and is the third prime number, after 2 and 3, and before 7. Because it can be written as 2(2^1)+1, five is classified as a Fermat prime. 5 is the third Sophie Germain prime, the first safe prime, the third Catalan number, and the third Mersenne prime exponent. Five is the first Wilson prime and the third factorial prime, also an alternating factorial. Five is the first good prime. It is an Eisenstein prime with no imaginary part and real part of the form 3n − 1. It is also the only number that is part of more than one pair of twin primes. Five is also a congruent number.

We celebrated our 5 month anniversary with Pizza at Grimaldi's. Not particularly showy or glamorous, just two people in love celebrating quietly amongst the mozzarella and red tablecloths. Nicole and I talked about our days at work, what we wanted to do this weekend and our wedding. It's hard to believe that 6 months ago, we were knee-deep in frenzied preparation for our wedding day, fretting about place settings, flowers, and favors. Now, that day has come and gone. All the cake has been eaten (except maybe a small piece), the champagne was drunk, and the festivities over. But more importantly, our love for each other remains. In some ways, that is more important than anything else we were planning. And will last a lot longer. Now, all we have to do is get those thank you notes finished, and all the wedding-related tasks will finally be complete. A journey that began on February 14, 2008 will come to an end, but a new journey has just begun. Happy 5th, my dearest wife!

:)
