Barbados

Nicole and I just returned from warm and sunny Barbados. We stayed at the Hilton at Needham's Point, and it was just the thing we needed to get away from the cold, snowy, rainy craptastick winter we've been having here.

First, of note, we almost forgot our passports. I remembered to pack them at 11 PM the night before our flight. I can only imagine the holy hell that would have erupted if we had driven all the way to JFK and missed our flight. Why can't JetBlue send that in a reminder? After a five hour flight, we arrived in Barbados and got a taxi to the airport. PS, they drive on the left there. They also have great signs that say things like "Give Way" and "Mind the Gap" which are a lot better than New York signs that say things like "Traffic Ahead", "Shut Up" and "Traffic Ahead."

We snorkeled with sea turtles and visited ship wrecks on a catamaran ride with Calabaza Cruises, who offer home-made fish cakes, banana bread and an open bar (can't beat that...I became good friends with Banks beer, which is pretty darn good.)

We did some shopping in Bridgetown, did crossword puzzles at the pool and ate at some great restaurants including The Cliff (I had swordfish, Nicole had the "best steak" she's ever eaten "in her life", it probably was because I had a bite too), Champers, Brown Sugar and all the places at the Hilton.

Of course, when it was all over, I had to pry Nicole out of the room to get her to leave, but not to worry because she's already planning our next trip!
