My First Dress Fitting!

Today was my first wedding gown fitting! (My appointment was originally scheduled for yesterday, but after a walk through the snow - with no umbrella - a scheduling snafu interfered and the appointment was moved to today. I guess the dress gods wanted to keep me on my toes.) It was only a "muslin fitting" because apparently they make the dress piece by piece starting with the bodice and ending with the skirt. I really didn't know what to expect from such a fitting though to be honest. I had visions of being wrapped in gauze like a mummy dancing through my head. :) But it was super fast and painless! I was in and out in about 25 minutes, and lucky for me there was no gauze or paper involved. ;)

The "fitting" consisted of me trying on a small piece of cloth (similar to the size of a corset) with boning in the shape of the bodice my dress will eventually have. It was hard for me to tell how it fit since it was such a small piece of material, but the designer seemed to think all was good. I personally thought it was a tad tight in the sides (quite possibly due to the blondie I wolfed over on the way to my appointment) but only if I tried to take a really big breath, which I have a strong feeling I might need to do many times on May 23 at around 2:59pmish. ;) The designer pinned a couple places to take in, he made note of the tightness, and I was done! I took a picture of the muslin for posterity's sake, although I'm not sure Shep is "allowed" to see it -- even though the muslin is not my actual dress I guess superstition is getting the best of me -- so I won't post it here. Here's an example of what a muslin fitting on a stranger looks like though, just to give you an idea:

So that's the story of my first fitting! My next appointment is February 17... stay tuned! :)
