"The rainbow has a place in legend owing to its beauty and the historical difficulty in explaining the phenomenon. In Greek mythology, the rainbow was considered to be a path made by a messenger (Iris) between Earth and Heaven. In Chinese mythology, the rainbow was a slit in the sky sealed by Goddess Nüwa using stones of five different colours. In Hindu mythology, the rainbow is called "Indradhanush", meaning the bow (Sanskrit & Hindi: dhanush is bow) of Indra, the God of lightning, thunder and rain. The Irish leprechaun's secret hiding place for his pot of gold is usually said to be at the end of the rainbow. This place is impossible to reach, because the rainbow is an optical effect which depends on the location of the viewer. When walking towards the end of a rainbow, it will move further away." But before choosing flowers and bridesmaid attire and invitations and all the other fun stuff we have to think about, one must think about color! Now I've always been a loyal fan of BLUE, so that's a definite. But since our wedding is in the spring, I'd love to have a colorful palette. Don't laugh, but I am considering rainbow-colored bridesmaid dresses. I first mentioned the idea jokingly a couple months back, and then quickly discovered that my grandmother's bridesmaids sported that very look in 1946. So now I'm seriously contemplating a multi-colored bridal party! After all, I did love Rainbow Brite back in the day and would welcome the chance to spend 62 wedded years of bliss (and counting!) with my hubby-to-be like Babci & Dziadziu have! I don't, however, want our guests wondering what decade they're in so I'd love to hear some feedback... Here are some sample pictures I found:

What do YOU think about these rainbow bridesmaid dresses? Now I have 8 girls total, which is too many for each to wear her own color, so I was thinking about choosing 4 watercolors/pastels. For example: blue, violet, pink & yellow. Please vote below or post a comment with your advice!
