A Presidential Invitation

One of the many challenges brides-and-grooms-to-be find themselves tasked with is keeping the guest list under control. For some this is easy, and for some of us (*ahem*) this is easier said than done. If cost was not a factor, Shep and I would invite anyone and everyone we've ever met that would truly be happy to come celebrate with us. Unfortunately, in wedding planning sometimes tough decisions have to be made and so alas this isn't possible. However, there is one frivolous invite we were excited to get out…

Remember back in high school when you were applying to colleges and your guidance counselor instructed you to apply to a few "reach" schools? Those were colleges you didn't think you could get accepted into, but wanted to try for anyway. Well, in wedding planning there are "reach" invitees. Oh, you haven't heard of this? Neither have I -- I made it up! Ladies and gents, say hello to our "reach" wedding invitees...

That’s right… we’re inviting The Obamas to our wedding! Word on the net is that if you send a wedding invitation to the White House, you’ll receive a personalized letter response signed by The President and First Lady! How cool is that?!?! Of course Shep and I are hoping the First Couple might actually be free for some dinner and dancing on the 23rd (who doesn't like a good wedding?!) but I guess a keepsake good luck letter is a pretty neat consolation prize. ;)
