Invitations...

Oh, the joy of stationary shopping. Our first outing took place last weekend at a little shop in Hoboken, where we looked through tons of books for 2 hours but only found 1 style we both liked. Which we quickly discovered to be incredibly expensive. Um, thanks for playing but NO THANK YOU!!!!

I really shouldn't be surprised by the fact that wedding invitations, like most items and services in this industry, are outlandishly overpriced. But yet, I was. Totally shocked and appalled is more like it! Can someone explain to me why on Earth something as common as this:

costs so much???? And that's a simple invite! You can't even imagine the price tag that came along with the more detailed design we favored.

For a minute, I started to reconsider traditional invitations altogether and instead began brainstorming ways we could make a cross-country game of telephone work, or maybe send a mass email forward, or better yet an e-vite! And then, as usual, Shep snapped me back down into reality. So we continued our search this past weekend in Long Island, at a boutique that had been calling me weekly for the past 6 months or so with a discount offer. It was obvious they wanted our business, so we gave it a shot @ 1pm on February 7th.

Four hours later we emerged from the shop - exhausted, weary-eyed, with heads aching. Looking back, it's more than possible that we gave in and chose a design out of sheer desperation for food and water. I'd actually go a step further to say it's likely. We're not crazy in love with the design we chose, but it will hopefully be sufficient to get all of you to the right location on the right date at the right time. ;) We should receive the proof in 7-10 days and if all goes well the invites will be shipped to us in early March. Curious as to what we chose? Don't worry, you'll see them soon enough! :)

Oh, and in case you're keeping score - that's one more item off the to-do list!
