Nicole: According to our handy dandy wedding checklist, we were supposed to set up gift registries about 3 months ago. Ooopsy daisy... guess we're going to have to claim the old phrase "better late than never" on this one!
We started our registry-palooza a few Sundays ago at Macy's in Herald Square. That's right... the world's largest department store. Probably NOT a good idea in retrospect as they have 9 entire floors of stuff! We started out looking at formal china, the staple of every traditional wedding registry, and then moved on from there. We wound up spending 4 hours (!!!!) there, and only quit because Shep's scanner gun pooped out on us. Since that was our second scanner (the original ran out of batteries) we took it as a sign to call it a day. Here are some pics from that first day:
Shep: We headed to Bed Bath & Beyond the following Sunday, where we spent another 3-4 hours perusing the goods. We met with a very nice sales associate who walked us through the entire process. I got to use "the gun" as we called it. We got a few essentials (like silverware and cups) and a few...not so essentials. Well, that's part of the fun, right? I also learned more than I ever wanted to know about China patterns and "formal ware" compared to "everyday ware." At the end of the day, we were both exhausted once again. Who knew walking around department stores figuring out stuff to put on a gift registry was so exhausting?
