Last Saturday, Shep and I drove out to our florist in Long Island to see samples of our centerpieces. I wasn't really sure what to expect, since our initial meeting with the vendor was so long ago and our discussions back then were pretty vague. I hadn't chosen the bridesmaid dresses yet, so I didn't know colors, and the only names of flowers I could mutter were Hydrangea (because Aunt Lee always had them in her backyard while I was growing up so I knew I wanted them) and Calla Lily (which Shep and I both agreed we disliked and mutually wanted to stay away from). Needless to say, we did not give our delightful vendor much to go on. What else is new. ;)
Well, obviously florists are artists, and we knew when we met with Vito back in December that he had vision and talent. But boy oh boy. I honestly did not expect to be so impressed!!! Since I have such bad luck and since time is not on our side at this point, I kind of was prepared to be disappointed because I could see how flowers might go horribly wrong without proper direction, which I did not give. Well, disappointed I was not. Amazed was more like it!!! They were almost exactly what I wanted, even though I never could have described or pictured them in my head. We were so surprised that when we first caught glimpse of the pieces set up on the table in front of us, Shep and I could not believe they were FOR US! And we weren't the only ones that liked them - two women on the sidewalk outside were pointing at them through the window and nodding in appreciation. :)
Shep won't let me post any pics of our beautiful sample pieces (he likes to keep you guessing and on your toes) so you're just going to have to take my word for it. And the word is sweeeeeeeeeeeet. I can't wait for you to see them and I can't wait to see lots more of them!
Phew, one less thing we need to worry about now over the next 3 weeks. ;)
